Program Lead, M.A. in English Applied Linguistics
Dr. Fahim Rahimi is the visionary architect and lead of the nation's first M.A. in English Applied Linguistics at Nangarhar University. His appointment to this pioneering role is the culmination of a distinguished academic and professional journey dedicated to language, education, and global citizenship—a journey guided by his core belief: "Teaching is my passion, Students are my Strength, Family is my support, and humanity is my path."
A scholar of international repute, Dr. Rahimi's academic foundation is as robust as it is diverse. He holds a Ph.D. in English, complemented by three postgraduate degrees in English Language Teaching, Public Policy & Administration, and Political Science, along with specialized diplomas in TESL and Peace & Conflict Resolution. He pursued his undergraduate degree in TEFL from Nangarhar University with academic partnership of San Diego State University, USA. His commitment to lifelong learning and sharing knowledge defines his ethos.
His career is marked by a unique blend of scholarly excellence and impactful project management. As a Fulbright Fellow, he taught Pashto Language and Culture at Fayetteville State University. Besides this, he was a trainee of methodlogy of language teaching at Howard University, USA. And as a Rotary International Peace Fellow, he studied Peace and Conflict Resolution at Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand, conducting field studies across Southeast Asia (Myanmar, Laos, and Sri Lanka). These global experiences are balanced by significant local contributions, having served as the Coordinator for the U.S. Embassy's English Language and Computer Learning Center (ELCLC) in Nangarhar and as a Regional Coordinator for Afghans for Progressive Thinking.
He has translated “A New Approach to Literary Theory and Criticism” and was co-translator of “Peace and Conflict Studies: An Introduction”. A prolific researcher with fifteen international and five national publications. In addition, he presented numerous papers in various international conferences. Dr. Rahimi is a central figure in advancing academic discourse. He provides overarching leadership for the university's scholarly publications as the Head of Academic Journals, while also serving as the Editor-in-Chief of the Nangarhar University of Social Science Journal International and heading the Research Committee for the Faculty of Languages and Literature.
It is this unique synthesis of global perspective, scholarly rigor, and deep commitment to his community that Dr. Rahimi brings to the leadership of the M.A. program. Under his guidance, the department is not only training the next generation of linguists but is also firmly on track to launch a Ph.D. program in 2027, cementing its legacy as a center of academic excellence.

Mr. Ahmad Gul Momand, born in Nangarhar Province Afghanistan in 1984 is a tenure English Language Professor at English Language Department, Nangarhar University since 2008. He graduated from Chardhi High School in 2001, and then went to Swiss Aid for Afghans to study Teaching Methodology for one year. Upon completion one-year Diploma Program he signed up for Bachelor of Hon’s in English Language and Literature through state sponsored exam. By successful completion of four years’ bachelor degree, Gul was offered teaching English at the same university.
In August 2008, Ahmad Gul travelled to the United States to work on curriculum designing for Afghan English students and in 2009 he achieved Fulbright scholarship to teach Pashto language at the University of Massachusetts. In 2013, Sir Ahmad Gul travelled to Tallinn Estonia to study Instructional Designing. He has received several awards in Education and scholarship. In 2016 – 2018 he studied MA in English Language and Literature at Gujarat University, India as ICCR scholar. Following the two years teaching, Sir Ahmad Gul achieved ICCR scholarship for PhD in English through after passing English language proficiency exams. Today, he is PhD scholar at the University of Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh India.
