Dr. Fahim Rahimi is the visionary architect and lead of the nation's first M.A. in English Applied Linguistics at Nangarhar University. His appointment to this pioneering role is the culmination of a distinguished academic and professional journey dedicated to language, education, and global citizenship—a journey guided by his core belief: "Teaching is my passion, Students are my Strength, Family is my support, and humanity is my path."
A scholar of international repute, Dr. Rahimi's academic foundation is as robust as it is diverse. He holds a Ph.D. in English, complemented by three postgraduate degrees in English Language Teaching, Public Policy & Administration, and Political Science, along with specialized diplomas in TESL and Peace & Conflict Resolution. He pursued his undergraduate degree in TEFL from Nangarhar University with academic partnership of San Diego State University, USA. His commitment to lifelong learning and sharing knowledge defines his ethos.
His career is marked by a unique blend of scholarly excellence and impactful project management. As a Fulbright Fellow, he taught Pashto Language and Culture at Fayetteville State University. Besides this, he was a trainee of methodlogy of language teaching at Howard University, USA. And as a Rotary International Peace Fellow, he studied Peace and Conflict Resolution at Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand, conducting field studies across Southeast Asia (Myanmar, Laos, and Sri Lanka). These global experiences are balanced by significant local contributions, having served as the Coordinator for the U.S. Embassy's English Language and Computer Learning Center (ELCLC) in Nangarhar and as a Regional Coordinator for Afghans for Progressive Thinking.
He has translated “A New Approach to Literary Theory and Criticism” and was co-translator of “Peace and Conflict Studies: An Introduction”. A prolific researcher with fifteen international and five national publications. In addition, he presented numerous papers in various international conferences. Dr. Rahimi is a central figure in advancing academic discourse. He provides overarching leadership for the university's scholarly publications as the Head of Academic Journals, while also serving as the Editor-in-Chief of the Nangarhar University of Social Science Journal International and heading the Research Committee for the Faculty of Languages and Literature.
It is this unique synthesis of global perspective, scholarly rigor, and deep commitment to his community that Dr. Rahimi brings to the leadership of the M.A. program. Under his guidance, the department is not only training the next generation of linguists but is also firmly on track to launch a Ph.D. program in 2027, cementing its legacy as a center of academic excellence.

Mr. Ahmad Gul Momand, born in Nangarhar Province Afghanistan in 1984 is a tenure English Language Professor at English Language Department, Nangarhar University since 2008. He graduated from Chardhi High School in 2001, and then went to Swiss Aid for Afghans to study Teaching Methodology for one year. Upon completion one-year Diploma Program he signed up for Bachelor of Hon’s in English Language and Literature through state sponsored exam. By successful completion of four years’ bachelor degree, Gul was offered teaching English at the same university.
In August 2008, Ahmad Gul travelled to the United States to work on curriculum designing for Afghan English students and in 2009 he achieved Fulbright scholarship to teach Pashto language at the University of Massachusetts. In 2013, Sir Ahmad Gul travelled to Tallinn Estonia to study Instructional Designing. He has received several awards in Education and scholarship. In 2016 – 2018 he studied MA in English Language and Literature at Gujarat University, India as ICCR scholar. Following the two years teaching, Sir Ahmad Gul achieved ICCR scholarship for PhD in English through after passing English language proficiency exams. Today, he is PhD scholar at the University of Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh India.

Mr. Mohammad Wakman Momand is son of Mohammad Jan khan. He was born on 30 March 1984. He has been teaching at ELD since 2016 in languages and literature faculty, Nangarhar University. He got B.A. in English language and literature faculty at Nangarhar University. Furthermore, he received his master degree in M. Ed.TESOL from a joint program of Indiana State University USA and Kabul Education University Afghanistan. Presently, he is pursuing his Ph.D. in education (with focus on quality teaching) in English from University of Haripur KPK, Pakistan. His research specialization is on EFL teachers’ teaching methods at tertiary level at Universities of Afghanistan. He has participated in various academic seminars, workshops, and research conferences, both in Afghanistan and in other countries such as Singapore, Pakistan.
He had worked as master trainer, mentor, and monitor with Ministry of Education, British Council, USAID and many other organizations. Moreover, he interested to teach different subjects such as Research, Methodology, Translation, Writing, Reading, ESP, and so forth. Moreover, he fascinated to acquire and teach languages. His main interest in research surrounding on linguistics competence, and translation.

Mr. Pervaiz Yaseeni is an Assistant Professor of English in the Languages and Literature Faculty at Nangarhar University. He loved teaching to adults through innovative language teaching approaches. His interest in cooperation pushes him to teach English by the helps of project based approach. He has taught Academic Writing, Technical Writing, Academic Reading, Syntax and Communication subjects to advanced level students in Bachler of Arts Program. Mr. Yaseeni started his teaching career in public university from Kabul University of Medical Sciences (KUMS) Abu Ali ibn Sina in 2017 and served as an English instructor in the Faculty of Medicine at KUMS.
He received a M.Ed. degree from Kabul Education University and his BA degree from Nangarhar University. He has been teaching English language in English as foreign language context for ten years. The lecturer attended intensive teaching training and research courses at Bangalore University where he exchanged his perspectives about EFL curriculum, pedagogy, andragogy and educational research. Moreover, he attended online TESOL training, research methodology, proposal and scientific article writing workshops and implemented the theory into practice at private and public educational institutes in Afghanistan.
Pervaiz’s teaching interests include training teachers, Academic Writing, Public Speaking, Business Communication, Critical Reading, Intensive Research, Curriculum Development, Educational Management, Sociology and Curriculum Design. These are the areas that he explored since he stated teaching English. Many students enjoy joining Mr. Pervez’s classes because of creativity and technology integration.
He is the author of some of the most popular research articles in the field of TESOL which are published in local and internal journals. Pervaiz wrote three scientific articles for The University Grapevine Newsletter which have been well received by his colleagues. He showed an excellent professional attitude towards both research and teaching within the language education field.

Mr. Fareed Sahil is son of Jan Mohammad, a permanent resident of Rodat district, Nangarhar province. He has been teaching English as an EFL (English as a Foreign Language) teacher at Nangarhar University since 2008. He got his Bachelor’s degree (with honor) from Nangarhar University in 2008. He completed his Master’s degree at Kabul Education University, Kabul, Afghanistan in 2017. During the past fifteen years, he has participated various seminars, workshops, and academic conferences in Afghanistan. He completed his first research on “The Effects of Applying Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) Approach in Afghan EFL Classes”. His second paper is “Exploring the Level of Test Anxiety among EFL Students at Nangarhar University”. Besides, he has published several articles in national and international journals. Also, He was elected as the head of English Department in 2019 through proper election system.

Mr. Ezzatullah Saghar has been instructing literature subject at Nangarhar University for the past fifteen years. He received his BA degree (with honor) from the same university in 2007, and in 2013 he completed his Master degree from the University of Allah Abad India. Mr. Shamsurahman Adel has been instructing English as a Foreign Language (EFL) at Nangarhar University for the past fifteen years. He received my Bachelor's degree (with honors) from the same university in 2007, and in 2015, he completed his Master's degree from University Malaysia Pahang. Currently, he is pursuing his Ph.D. in TESL from University Technology Malaysia (UTM), Malaysia. Over the years, he has participated in numerous academic seminars, workshops, and research conferences, both in Afghanistan and in other countries such as the U.S., Malaysia, and India. His primary research interests revolve around applied linguistics and second language acquisition (SLA), with particular emphasis on topics such as corrective feedback (CF), task complexity, language performances, and utilization of wiki, 2.0 technologies in language classes.

Mr. Ahmad Tasal Hazraty son of Haji Dr. Toor Hazraty who was one of the talented, honest, patriotic and well qualified and deserved Medical Technologist Doctor (technician). Mr. Tasal has received intensive knowledge in English Language and Literature throughout his four years at the university. He was educated in English Language and teaching methodology. His hard work to answer his curiosity in English Language, Literature and culture was appreciated by his professors.
The sooner he graduated from his four years study in English Mr. Hazraty was offered teaching position. After short time Mr. Hazraty has changed the way of learning English in English classes. His simple and authentic approach to teach English was highly welcomed by his students.
After two years excellent services in the university Mr. Tasal was invited to study his masters’ in research and methodology (M. Ed. TESOL) at Kabul Education University which was affiliated and have partnership with the Indiana University of the USA in Kabul, Afghanistan through open competition. His well-qualified talent and expertise make him successful and selected for the program among hundreds afghan university lecturers. He expects to complete his two years long study sooner.
Mr. Hazraty went to USA. On 2017 through open merits and competition in Afghan Junior Faculty Development Program. (AJFDP)and resign from his position at the faculty. The program was about intensive teaching training, assessment and research. He successfully completed the program and back to university. He always tries to help and motivate learners to learn in and beyond the university.
Now, Mr. Ahmad Tasal Hazraty is busing in teaching research and technical writing to the junior and senior students of English department of languages and literature faculty. Mr. Hazraty is being busy on compiling two textbooks which will be applicable and written based on afghan context. The first book is about technical writing and the second book is about conducting research. His upcoming plan is to get an opportunity for his Phd. Degree in one of the international university.

Mr. Yasir Ali Nagar son of Prof. Fazal Wali Nagar is the resident of district Batikot village Chardahi, Nangarhar. He opened his eyes to this world right in the village of Matakhel Peshawar during the era of massive immigration in 1986 AH.
He had done his primary education in the village and his middle study was done in IRC high school Sarkhrod district. He found his way to higher education particularly in the department of English language and literature Nangarhar University in 1387 AH through Kankor Exam (university entrance test) and as long as he graduated, he started rendering his services in respect to the holy profession of teaching in various prestigious institutions across the downtown. In the year 1392, he was then, appointed as a lecturer in the university of Paktika under the competitive competitions.
In 1395, he was shifted to Nangarhar language and literature department almost after three years of his teaching service. Mr. Yasir Ali Nagar did his master in English language and literature from China in 2022. Anyways¸ he has been engaged in teaching English and literature in Nangarhar University nowadays. Yasir Ali Nagar is a gentle, bright minded and a very competent personality. Additionally, he loves his compatriots to excess and his priority is to serve them as long as he could. Mr. Mubariz Zirman, son of Sabz Ali and grandson of Haji Yar Mohammad, was born on 24/03/1368 in Qilagho village, Khogyani District.
He started his primary education at the village mosque and later joined the primary school of his village, completing this stage in Peshawar. After returning to the country, he studied up to the 10th grade at Malikiar Hotak High School in Khogyani District and completed his secondary education at Nangarhar High School in 1387.
Mr. Zirman completed his undergraduate studies in English Language and Literature at Nangarhar University and earned his Master’s degree (M.Ed. in TESOL) from Kabul Education University.
He has worked with various governmental and non-governmental organizations in different capacities. His professional experience includes teaching at Islah Private High School, Nangarhar Teachers’ Training College, Kabul Education University, Salam University, and Maiwand University.
In addition, he has worked as a reporter and producer for Inekass Radio and National Radio and Television. He has also served as an academic and professional member of the Academy of the General Directorate of Teachers’ Training. Furthermore, he has worked as a teacher trainer with the WADAN Organization and as a member of the entrepreneurship curriculum compilation committee with the UNIDO international organization.
Since 1397, Mr. Mubariz Zirman has been working as a lecturer in the English Department of the Faculty of Languages and Literature, Nangarhar University.

Mr. Omid Wali is Assistant Professor of English at Nangarhar University, Afghanistan. He is Ph.D. Research Scholar at Aligarh Muslim University, India where his research specialization is on Language Policy and Planning of Afghanistan. He pursued his undergraduate degree in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) from Nangarhar University with the academic partnership of San Diego State University, USA. He pursued his first Master’s degree in English Language Teaching (ELT) from Andhra University, India while he obtained his second Master in Policy and Public Administration from the same institution. Wali was awarded with the prestigious Fulbright fellowship where he taught Pashtu language in addition to studying Academic English Writing at the University of Georgia, Athens, USA. Besides this, he was a trainee of methodology of language teaching at the University of Notre Dame, USA. He was also entitled with the Rotary Peace Fellowship where he studied Peace and Conflict Resolution at Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand with field studies in Myanmar, Laos and Indonesia. During his time at Chulalongkorn University, he wrote his individual conflict analysis paper on ‘The Conflict and Peace Talks of Afghanistan’.
Furthermore, Mr. Wali is the proud Alumnus of (Indian Council for Cultural Relation ICCR, and Kautilya Fellow Program, India). He is the author of Portfolio Development Project and the cotranslator of Peace and Conflict Studies: An Introduction. He has published more than ten research papers in internationally refereed journals of high indexing in addition to presented numerous papers in various international conferences. For instance, his speech at the 5th World Parliament of Science, Religion and Philosophy organized by MIT World Peace University, Pune, India brought the honor of MoU to Nangarhar University.

Mr. Basir Ahmad Azimi son of Ali Ahmad, the current lecturer of Nangarhar University, Faculty of languages and literature, department of English language was born in one of the pious, noble and educated families in 1995, in Rodat district of Nangarhar province. Azizullah Weyar, son of Stanikzai, was born on May 5, 1998. He currently serves as a lecturer at Nangarhar University, within the Faculty of Languages and Literature, Department of English Language and Literature. Mr. Weyar is pursuing his Master’s degree in Applied Linguistics. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) from Nangarhar University in 2022.
Shortly after completing his undergraduate studies, Mr. Weyar was appointed as a lecturer in the same department in 2023. He is now pursuing a Master’s degree in Applied Linguistics and he has been actively involved in teaching and academic engagement with both students and faculty. His primary academic objective is to support students in developing critical thinking skills and innovative perspectives by sharing his knowledge and academic experience.
Mr. Weyar teaches a range of core subjects within the English Department, including English Writing, Listening and Speaking, Grammar, Translation, and Linguistics. Additionally, in 2025, he was elected as the Secretary of English Department through proper election system.

Mr. Abdul Rahman Abid son of Muhammad Salim was born in 1994. He is the permanent resident of Haska Maina but currently he lives in Markoh Town, Nangarhar. Mr. Abid passed matric from Afridi Model School, Peshawar in 2010. After returning back to his dear homeland he got admission in Khoshhal Khan No. 1 High School, Kabul in 2011 and graduated from the mentioned high school in 2012 with excellent grades. He succeeded to get admission in English Department of Languages and Literature Faculty at Nangarhar University in 2013 and earned BA in English Language and Literature with great honour in 2017. After graduation from University, he worked as an English teacher in different private schools and courses for two years. In 2019 he got teaching position at Achin Sub Teachers Training College (ASTTC) and worked there for five years. In 2023 he succeeded to get teaching position at Nangarhar University. He has been teaching different English subjects such as Study Skills, Grammar, Listening and Speaking at English Department since 2023.
