First Doctoral student defends his dissertation at Nangarhar University.

Professor Emeritus Sayed Ahmad Fatimi, the first graduate of Doctoral Program in Jurisprudence and Law, Sharia Faculty, defended his dissertation successfully.

Some rituals were arranged in this connection in the auditorium of Nangarhar University, in which the leadership of university and Sharia Faculty; beside professors and students, the professors of Kabul and other universities, religious scholars, elites, Officials of Province, and tribal leaders participated in the event.

Chancellor of Nangarhar University Professor Emeritus Dr. Khalil Ahmad Behsoodwal expressed his utmost gratitude that Nangarhar University had produced doctoral graduates after bachelors and masters. He said, ”Doctoral Program in Jurisprudence and Law was launched for the first time at Sharia Faculty of Nangarhar University in 1393. So far, 19 students in two cohorts have completed their course work and now they are drafting their dissertations. The third cohort is consisted of 10 students who are currently busy in their course work”.

Professor Behsoodwal regarded PhD graduation of the students in Jurisprudence and Law as a pride for Nangarhar University and the entire nation at large. He also added that he would extend the Post-Graduation programs to other faculties too.

Tamim Arif Momand, the Deputy Governor of Nangarhar Province called Nangarhar University as the Turban of this province, which had always made its inhabitants proud and the gathering for the defense of doctoral dissertation was its another achievement. He also recommended that Nangarhar University had to transform into a professional research center so that it conducted national level researches for the betterment of community.

Dean of Sharia Faculty Professor Emeritus Dr. Israrul Hai Muneeb, Director of Doctoral Program in Jurisprudence and Law Professor Emeritus Dr. Dil Aqa Wiqar, and the Guest professor from Kabul University Professor Emeritus Dr. Wadeer Safi were the other speakers. They all talked on the topic of the doctoral program.

At the end, Professor Emeritus Dr. Sayed Ahmad Fatimi defended his dissertation and answered the questions of the participants. The jury approved the defense.

It is worthy to be mentioned that Nangarhar University has 5 masters programs in Sharia, Law & Political Science, and Languages & Literature Faculties; and 1 doctoral program. There are 373 students currently studying in those programs and 451 students have already graduated and they are serving the nation.
