Nangarhar University signs MoU with universities and Health Departments of Laghman and Kunar Provinces

According to the officials, the students of Laghman and Kunar Universities would conduct surveys and monitoring of Polio Vaccination campaigns under this MoU.

The MoU was signed by Chancellor of Nangarhar University Professor Emeritus Dr. Khalil Ahmad Behsudwal and Chancellors & Directors of Public Health of Kunar and Laghman Provinces and Eastern Regional Center for Emergency Action against Polio (REOC) in the presence of Vice Chancellors of Nangarhar University, Officials of Research Committee, and Regional Office of World Health Organization.

To the gathering, organized in this connection on 16 Jadi 1398, Chancellor of Nangarhar University Professor Emeritus Dr. Khalil Ahmad Behsudwal said, “With accordance to the rules and regulations of Ministry of Higher Education, students have to participate in social benefit activities beside their studies. Luckily, the students of Nangarhar University have been actively involved in monitoring the Polio Eradication Campaigns in Nangarhar Province since 2013”. Chancellor Behsudwal added, “It is a pleasure that this activity has been extended to Kunar Sayed Jamaluddin Afghani and Laghman Universities and from now on the students of these universities will monitor and evaluate this national process of Polio Eradication Campaigns in coordination with Nangarhar University”.

The Head of REOC Dr. Najeebullah Kamawal, Head of Nangarhar University Committee of Academic Research Associate Professor Dr. Sayed Ziaul Haq Banawri, Chancellor of Kunar Sayed Jamaluddin Afghani University Associate Professor Dr. Mohammad Gulab Umari, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs of Laghman University, the representative of World Health Organization, and the Directors of Public Health Departments of  Kunar and Laghaman Provinces were the other speakers. All of them talked about the importance and value of the signed MoU, and regarded it very effective in the implementation of national Polio Vaccination process.
