On 26 Aqrab, a one-day academic conference entitled “The Usage of Currency at Local Markets: Problems and Solutions” was conducted at Nangarhar University.
The conference was initiated by Economic Faculty, in which beside Chancellor, Vice Chancellors, the Deans of various faculties, professors, and students; His Highness the Governor of Nangarhar Province, Directors of Provincial Administration, and the Officials of Public and Private Banks also participated.
In the opening speech, Chancellor of Nangarhar University Professor Emeritus Dr. Khalil Ahmad Behsudwal said, “The excessive use of foreign currency in the local market has created numerous problems and detriments that not only affect our economy but also our national values”. He added, “Afghani is our national identity and we have devised plans for its common usage, which will be shared with the audience and Provincial Administration”.
His Highness the Governor of Nangarhar Province Mr. Shah Mahmood Miakhel said, “Discontinuation of Rupees in Afghanistan means eradication of war and beginning of progress; the inhabitants of Eastern Region should, therefore, fulfill their Islamic responsibility in prevailing the common use of Afghanis”. He added, “Soon, the prevalence of Afghani will simultaneously be started in Nangarhar, Laghman, Kunar, and Nuristan Provinces, of course, in coordination with the Officials of the Eastern Region”.
Ahmadzai Tawhidyar, the General Manger of Da Afghanistan Bank, said, “Complete usage of Afghanis is only possible with the stoppage of rupees; selling and purchasing be done with Afghanis and only Afghanis”. He regarded the usage of Afghanis as necessary as passport or Tazkira. He urged the countrymen to fulfill their responsibility in upgrading the national identity. He also asked the Administration and Professors of Nangarhar University to devise a comprehensive plan that would stop rupees and facilitate the use of Afghanis.
In the second part of the conference, Professor Emeritus Mohammad Bashir Doudyal put on the presentation entitled (Da As’aro Chaland Stoonza, Zmong par Iqtisad ye Manfi Taseer aw Hal Lare) and Associate Professor Hamdullah Nizami gave presentation about (Pa Koranayo Bazarono ke da As’aro Da Chalakht Stonzay aw Hal Lare).
At the end, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Assistant Professor Dr. Mohammad Hamid Kadwal evaluated the conference and concluded that the conference was advantageous for compensating Afghanis to foreign currency.
